GREIF Mietwäsche is committed to sustainable development in the textile industry and has been an official member of CIBUTEX since January 1, 2024.
What exactly is CIBUTEX?
CIBUTEX stands for “circular business textiles” and has been bundling large quantities of B2B used textiles since 2022, which are obtained from a merger of various textile service companies – including GREIF Mietwäsche with immediate effect. Since the beginning of this year, used textiles have been collected at the GREIF site in Berlin so that upcyclers can give these textiles a new lease of life.
The inclusion of GREIF Mietwäsche in CIBUTEX is a milestone for us. Their commitment to sustainability reflects our shared values. Together, we will develop solutions to efficiently return used textiles to the textile cycle – from textile to textile.

How does CIBUTEX work?
Cibutex wants to reduce production with conventional cotton and polyester. The aim is to send several hundred tons of used textiles to upcyclers every year and thus bring the textiles back into the textile supply chain. CIBUTEX not only wants to reduce waste, but also save water and CO2.
Returning our used textiles to the cycle so that they can be bundled and reused for new fiber production is truly sustainable. We are very much looking forward to this fantastic collaboration.

As a company, GREIF Mietwäsche keeps an eye on all areas of sustainability and can prove this with the seal for “assured sustainability” from the German Institute for Sustainability and Economy, among other things.
